Director Academic Affairs

Romana (Romy) Hughes is the Assistant Provost of Educational Technology and Faculty Development and the Director of the Koehler Center for Instruction, Innovation, and Engagement at Texas Christian University. Her primary duties include oversight of the Koehler Center, managing a robust, multi-faceted professional development program for full-time, adjunct faculty and graduate assistants that support teaching and learning and addresses the changing needs of students, the intersection course design with student-centered learning and to pursue excellence in the use of technology. Romy teaches courses in the subjects of communication, student success, teaching online, and pedagogy. Romy also works with Department Chair Leadership Training on campus.  Romy has thirty years of higher education experience, twenty years of faculty development experience, and seventeen years of teaching experience in higher education. Romy holds two graduate degrees in Liberal Arts and Professional Development Organizational Communication.

Romy brings years of experience in higher education to her TLCI Director of Academic Affairs position.  She collaborates with the Executive Director in the development and implementation of the training program for advisors and academic professionals. Romy promotes a culture of empowered learning, innovation and creativity as she guides advisors and parents in the development of students customized courses and individualized learning plans.
