Dr. Suni Jani is a psychiatrist specializing in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. She currently practices in Maryland. She is Board-Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Independent Medical Examination. Additionally, Dr. Jani is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and maintains credentials as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Jani received her medical degree from The George Washington University, completed her residency in General Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, and pursued specialized fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital.

In her current roles, Dr. Jani serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor at The George Washington University and Assistant Medical Director at Community Behavioral Health, an organization dedicated to providing mental health care to underserved rural communities. She has extensive teaching experience, including educating senior-level psychiatry residents and fellows on neurology, telepsychiatry, community mental health, and academic writing.

Dr. Jani is recognized for her scholarly contributions in various areas, including cross-cultural psychiatry, LGBTQIA+ mental health, trauma, autism spectrum disorder, and psychopharmacology. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on anxiety disorders and trauma and co-edited the Handbook of Refugee Experience: Trauma, Resilience, and Recovery.

With a commitment to public health and education, Dr. Jani has led grant-funded initiatives to enhance parenting resources, early childhood interventions, crisis care, addiction treatment in detention settings, and trauma-informed programs designed to mitigate the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

Her contributions to psychiatry and community mental health have been recognized with several awards, including distinctions from The Royal College of Psychiatrists, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Dr. Jani’s work bridges clinical practice, education, and community outreach to support holistic mental health and well-being.
